Job Description
The Test Operations Manager position is responsible for managing and overseeing all aspects of testing and required use of the Lab. Although the Test Operations Manager is primarily responsible for testing of new components for the program, they also need to ensure that the test lab is being effectively used by all groups that have a need for the specialized capabilities of the lab.
Primary test manager responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
1. Day to day management of all testing personnel to ensure that testing tasks are being
completed and test processes are being followed.
2. Management, development, and review of test cases for existing and new components including
drivers, plug-ins and other core components. Ensure test cases are maintained and updated, as
needed. Work with other technical personnel to ensure accuracy and effectiveness of test cases.
3. Development and management of testing processes to ensure all personnel are following a
similar methodology. Processes should include timing of test cases for accurate time estimates,
defect tracking procedures and results reporting.
4. Weekly reporting of completed, on-going and upcoming testing. Maintaining a schedule of
components for the test lab and assignment of the primary test lead.
5. Assignment of personnel to maintain the version of all components deployed for testing and
work with senior technical personnel to determine the version of components so that deployment testing is factored in the testing process.
In addition to the above mentioned tasks, the test manager will assist other groups who may have need for access and changes to the test lab. The test manager will ensure that other groups will coordinate the access and ensure that on-going testing will not be disrupted or disrupt the scheduled use of the test lab. Coordinate use of the test may include but not be limited to:
1. Assist training team in setting up use of the test lab for specialized training. Specialized training
may be components only available in the test lab or future components only deployed in the
test lab.
2. Assist documentation team by providing screen shots, document reviews and subject matter
expertise for documentation content of future components or changes to existing components.
3. Coordinate with the test lab change management team to ensure optimal operational
effectiveness of the lab.
